3 Unique Spots To Hide Your Spare House Key

If you want to make sure that you are no longer at risk for being locked outside of your home with no way to get back in, you might want to consider the following unique places to hide your spare key. Use one of the suggestions or all three, and make sure that everyone else in the house also knows where the spare keys are.
In A Medication Bottle
It is not just about putting the spare house key in a medication bottle. You have to hide the bottle well. A good thing to do, after you close the bottle lid tightly is glue the top of the lid to the bottom of a flat rock. Make sure that you are using industrial strength glue in order to ensure that it stays together. Once the glue has dried, you will want to dig a little hole in your flower garden so that the medication bottle will slide right in and the only thing that will show is the rock. If you have a lot of rocks in your flower garden, you will want to add a decoration next to it or paint a small design on it so you will have an easy time remembering which rock to look under when you are searching for your spare key.
In A Bird Bath
Empty all of the water out of the bird bathe and dry the bowl. Place your spare house key in a plastic sandwich or snack bag and seal it shut. You will then want to use heavy duty packing tape to tape that bag and key to the bottom of the bird bath bowl. Once that is in place, you will want to add stones, pebbles, or decorative marbles along the bottom of the bowl, as this will help conceal the key from the sight of anyone that walks past. All you have to do then is fill it back up with water.
Under A Stepping Stone
Before you place your spare house key under the stepping stone, you will want to seal it in a sandwich or snack bag so that the key is protected from moisture so the key does not rust. Then you can lay it under the stone. You just might want to make sure that there is no one walking down the street when you slip the key under there. After all, you do not want anyone wondering what you put under the stepping stone and then look and find your house key.
